The Musilanguage curriculum is specifically designed to integrate music in Common Core Standards-based lessons and in any learning/ educational activities. At the end of the six modules of Musilanguage certification, educators will have acquired a comprehensive set of skills and knowledge to integrate music effectively into their early childhood education practice. They will be equipped to create musically enriched and inclusive learning environments that foster children’s creativity, self-expression, and cognitive development through engaging music activities. Educators will gain the confidence to teach a diverse range of musical concepts, including rhythm, melody, instruments, movement, and music composition.

Musilanguage Curriculum for Early Childhood Educators – Module 1

(synchronous- online/ Fridays 6-8 pm EST)

Training Content Outline:

This first module of the Musilanguage in Early Childhood Education curriculum provides educators with valuable insights into the integration of music and language learning to enhance the development of young children. This comprehensive training explores the concept of Musilanguage, its significance in early childhood education, and the numerous benefits it offers.

Participants will delve into the fundamental musical elements, such as melody, rhythm, and pitch, while also mastering vocal techniques for singing with young children. Moreover, they will gain an understanding of various musical instruments suitable for early childhood settings. The course focuses on the role of songs and rhymes in language development, guiding educators in selecting age-appropriate material to bolster language skills. Participants will learn strategies to incorporate movement and actions, effectively reinforcing language learning. Additionally, they will discover how to use music as a tool for vocabulary expansion.

The integration of music into phonological awareness development will be a key aspect of the course. Participants will explore how music supports phonemic awareness and sound discrimination, along with implementing songs and games for letter-sound recognition.
